My favorite medium is alcohol ink, and I honestly don’t know why I love it so much because it can absolutely drive me crazy at times. I call it the “cat of all mediums” because it does what it wants. It doesn’t always follow my plans, and it keeps me humble.
I’m someone who likes things organized and under control, yet I fell in love with a medium that forces me to let go, trust the process, and sometimes just let go and let God. I watch the inks move and spread until I see a petal forming and realize the painting is starting to tell me what it wants to become. When people ask, “What kind of flower is that?” my answer is usually, “It’s the kind of flower the ink allowed me to make.”
