Silviana Zub

I use forceful gestures and sometimes strong colors, often intertwined with “feminine,” curvilinear and more sensual elements in my paintings. I aim for fluidity and an organic feel, as if the painting came into existence on its own. At times I like to create new meanings and suggest feelings and emotions by merging elements of the human body with plants or unexpected objects.

Most of my work is born from a combination of dream and reality, between imagination and observation, between spiritual and physical; in other words, I create a dreamworld refined on a conscious level. I try to simplify, to purify the physical and minimize the shapes so that the essence, the energy transmitted is as untainted as possible.

My goal is not a photographic representation of reality. It is capturing its essence, its core, its spirit. It is my emotional response to it. In a way I am painting my soul and my emotions.
