I’ve been working with a visual vocabulary of shapes that tell a universal story. Painting, printmaking, and mixed media are my primary creative processes. I try not to have any predetermined outcomes but see where the work will take me.

Considering the weather history of this city, the art market has had incredible luck over the years only experiencing a handful of cancellations due to weather. The first of course was the most memorable. This was in the first year, 2004. Unsure on the exact date.
Day turned to night, the wind came in small tornado-like swirls, then full on gusts as if you were at sea. The sky behind me was as dark as the darkest night you’ve ever seen, only to be lit up by brilliant, long streaks of lightening. Booming thunder warned of how fast the storm was moving towards me.
In front of me, several artists had gathered, all staring me down as if I was about to bring out the sun.
These stalwarts of insanity were arguing with me to continue the show, the storm would blow east or west but surely not hit our fledgling market, “The Show Must Go On!” They were saying.
I remember turning around partly and pointing behind me at that monstrously black and huge storm barreling down on us, just as a gust of wind and lightening struck at the same time and I said.
“NO!. ARE YOU ALL CRAZY? THE SHOW IS CANCELLED!”
I knew then, I was dealing with a very different caliber of people. Moments after the “artists” left, the wall of rain finally reach the market space and sealed the deal, the first market cancellation due to rain was on, and no one else showed up.
These photos are from the first couple of months the market was open, March – May 2004!
From a series on the art market!
In 2004, months before the first art market got started, I was busy crunching numbers, struggling with a “press release” and mapping out the market space that Kaplan’s Ben-Hur gave us to use for the market.
Graphics, writing and figuring were easy, but I wanted a photograph. It’s not easy taking a picture of something that hasn’t happened yet. I found a photo of a market place in Paris, and staged a photo session to insert myself and Carolyn (I was married then!) into the Parisian market.
It worked! And thus the first art market photo was a fake!
Unfortunately, I have no photos of the first market that took place that March 2004. By April though, I must have realized my mistake and have a few. I collected other fun photos to use on the first website that launched later that year.

I photograph and print images of bugs, insects and other creatures people are usually afraid of and/or find disgusting. I think most people believe that you can only find and experience truly exotic wildlife in other countries, but all the amazing creatures I photograph are always in local places. Some places include my house, my local park, my local beach, and local animal places near my house. www.omgbugs.com
Leaded glass art pieces combining traditional stained glass work while incorporating dimensional glassware both recycled, reclaimed and new glass objects, including fused elements. By combining slumped, fused, cut bottles and glassware I bring a 3 dimensional look to traditional stained glass windows. Hand crafted in Cypress Texas.
