Lately, I’ve been irritable, short tempered, ornery, lethargic, uncreative and uninterested in things that normally excite me. What the hell?
Time for a reset. Recharge, get my mojo back, become one with the universe, throw caution to the wind, see new places, faces and challenges I’ve not met in a long while.
Time for a vacation.
I don’t think of taking time off from what I do as an escape as much as I think of it as a recharge.
Exploring new things and getting out of your routine really does open your eyes, heart and soul.
I’m way over due – and I’m torn between going somewhere for me or somewhere I feel an obligation.
A just for me vacation is winning right now, simply because I want the little escape part of not knowing. I need to rejuvenate! Then maybe some visiting.
Have any thoughts on where I should go? Drop me an email or tag me on the Facebook.[themify_icon icon=”fa-facebook-square” ]
Peace, Love & Hippie Shit. With a theme song and shit hippies say below. Enjoy!
WOW! Two of my worst fears knocked down in one night – public speaking and spinning tunes. Okay well, I never really thought about spinning before, but holding a microphone always makes me uncomfortable. I guess that’s why I said yes – being challenged is a good thing!
SO it was Tina Zulu that figured a way around my defenses and brought me in – to DJ! I pulled together my favorite songs, (that are appropriate for the public) and found some new ones. No one made a complaint – and I saw some folks moving to the beats – success! AND no mic so no one had to suffer – especially me!
MKT Bar is inside Phoenicia Specialty Foods downtown. Both are just awesome! MKT Bar itself is worth it, it’s a bar, restaurant and live music venue!
The store is amazing – there’s a bakery, deli counter, hot food and cold cuts. Plus some amazing foods from around the world. Gifts? This is YOUR store!
I’ll let you know if they have me back. I’d like to bring the art market team with me – we could really rock the house!
I would in fact like a 2nd go at it! My only disappointment was I didn’t push enough to get more people there. ME? I know, I was super busy, and the week leading up, nervous and just didn’t think about inviting more. I was super happy to see 2 dozen really good friends in the crowd though! Thanks y’all!
Thank you Tina Zulu, Mark Austin, Ann-Marie Tcholakian, Lee and DJ (our waiter’s name was DJ, how cool is that?) for being such wonderful hosts!

Tom by the way is a great artist and caricaturist, when he’s not poking fun at me. Check him: tomryeart.com
GUESS WHAT? Today is my girlfriend Vena’s birthday! (FEB. 26) She’s amazing, gorgeous and an awesome artist, like her page on Facebook. And if you’re friends with her on FB, wish her a happy one here!
At the market, I love handing out ice cold beer to the artists. It can get pricey though with seventy plus people in attendance. VERY $$
Well ONE day a couple of years ago, a beer rep saw me handing out beer, and asked me if she could give me her beer to give to the artists. That’s like asking a dog if he wants another cookie …
YES, PLEASE! And thus, my beer buying days came to an abrupt halt. boo hoo
Our current beer sponsor is our long time good friends Silver Eagle Distributors, and they provide Stella Artois. The artsy beer!
UNTIL last week, I forgot to remind them of the upcoming 1st Saturday, and they couldn’t rush it on a holiday weekend. Dang it, I’ve got to buy the beer again.
I decided to support local and went to Premium Draught at 733 Studewood St. and Johnny helped me select Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.’s 1836, a copper ale. Delicious! Gen’s Antiques, our marvelous host pitched in and we were set.
Premium Draught is the place to buy quality beers by the bottle or draught, to go!
They explain it all on their website, pay them a visit, right between ANTIDOTE Coffee and Woods Food Mart in the Heights. 733 Studewood St. premiumdraught.com
Next Month, back to Stella!!! Cuz we love to yell … S-T-E-L-L-A!
