I draw inspiration from the designs, colors, and textures in nature. As an environmentalist and avid recycler, it is my hope that art reflecting nature will encourage other people to care for it too. I love that ceramic pieces can be used repeatedly, thus preserving some of our natural resources.
Jeff Lung is a self-taught artist interested in figurative abstract expression. All his life he has been obsessed with filling empty spaces with shapes, and his doodle-scribbled notebooks collected over the years document this quest. He finds great satisfaction in finding relationships among forms and expressing them through emotion. In his free time, Jeff enjoys being outdoors: running, hiking and cycling. He also loves comic books and live stand-up comedy. Born and raised in Quincy, Illinois, since leaving home at 18 years old he has lived in big cities like Madrid, Beijing, Los Angeles and Chicago. He now spends his time between south Texas and central Illinois. https://jefflungart.com/ Read Jeff’s story in the Artist Spotlight!
I paint big, colorful flowers. I am fascinated by the repetitive shapes, the colors, and the energy of plants and flowers. They are each so unique and different, almost as if they have little personalities. I love the big bold varieties of sunflowers and zinnias, as well as exotic tropicals like hibiscus and bird of paradise. I could paint them for hours and never get tired of it. I keep my garden chock-full of all these types so I get to live with them and study them. They are constantly making me smile and informing my work.
My art is uplifting and positive. There’s enough heavy negativity these days, so I’m doing my part to put positive energy back into the world. Color saves lives. It inspires us to think better, work smarter, and play more. My art is about beauty, color, and joy, and ultimately, it’s about hope.
Mixed media artist Laura Aurealis merges art and alchemy to create thoughtful, whimsical works of art layered with metaphor and meaning. Inspired by nature, spirituality and metaphysics, Laura’s work explores themes of transformation and rebirth. Her process driven approach to art making is deeply influenced by her background in art education, theatre and set building. Taking simple materials, infusing them with intention and creating rituals around her process, Laura transcends the everyday and infuses the mundane with magic.
