Mixed media assemblage.
Laura Caffrey finds beauty in the intentionally discarded and the inadvertently abandoned, the crumpled and cracked, and the back sides of things. She is drawn to the varying effects time and the environment have on different materials. With her carefully crafted intimate assemblages, Caffrey calls attention to the curious bits and pieces people may not have had the opportunity or taken the time to notice. With Caffrey’s lifelong fascination with art, architecture, history, sustainability, travel and curation, she has been producing art while learning and working in these fields. Her avid curiosity provides her access to people and places which others may not have, and in most cases, yields the very materials with which she works. She finds amazing things on the ground wherever she goes. Caffrey has collectors nation-wide, shown her work in Austin galleries, participated in the City of Austin’s People Gallery, and in 2018 had a well-received show of 46 pieces at Austin’s Dougherty Arts Center. Caffrey owns and operates Fine Art Services, a 31-year-old custom picture framing shop, in Austin, Texas, where she frames her own work and that of many other local artists, and for interior designers and collectors. Her email is monkeyislandqueen@gmail.com, and images of her work are available at www.facebook.com/caffreyart/ and www.instagram.com/lauracaffreyart/ but she insists the pieces are best viewed in person, given their subtly compelling three-dimensional nature.
Robin Whalan is an emerging visual artist, currently working in ink and printmaking. Self-taught, she found her voice through the power of art during the 2020 pandemic. Robin’s work is an expression of her own personal life experiences. A native Houstonian and historical building enthusiast with a background in interior design, she enjoys implementing local architecture, specializing in Art Deco. Her work is an emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, love, disaster and humor; “relatable” and “honest” being the most commonly used words by viewers when describing her pieces.

I am an abstract artist that creates works by utilizing a variety of different techniques. I am drawn to bright colors, metallics, unique patterns and textures. My work is intuitive and driven by the emotion from both the light and dark in the world. I find beauty in the chaos.

Ever since I was little, I have loved LEGO®. When I got older and became an artist, I thought, why not combine the two! I’m Knockout Bricks and I’m a LEGO® artist! I make 2D and 3D mosaics out of LEGO®! Every piece of art I make are with 100% LEGO® bricks and they are never painted! They are all authentic LEGO® colors. Each unique piece I create, I always learn more and more how the pieces I use are just like painting. It takes a mixture of the right colors and balance to produce some incredible results. Come check out how I ended up making such unique pieces of LEGO® art!

I am based in Houston, TX with Austin roots. I have evolved in my artistic approach, driven by shifts in frame of mind through life’s challenges and joys. My creative process does not always begin with a vision, but instead an experience in mind. My profession is highly technical and I am a mother of young twin boys, so my art allows me to escape a sometimes regimented and stressful life to expose my multi-faceted self – sophistication with a hint of chaos and a pop of vibrancy.

Jenn Bianco is a Houston based artist with Austin roots. She has evolved in her artistic approach, driven by shifts in frame of mind through life’s challenges and joys. Growing up in Austin she was passionate about art and had numerous creative outlets, from singing in bands, to throwing pottery and various creative projects that she would immerse herself in. Jenn would go on to study accounting at the University of Texas at Austin and would later become a Certified Public Accountant at a big four accounting firm. Jenn has always been academically driven and competitive, and sometimes struggled to allow herself to explore her artistic passions. While Jenn has painted for over 10 years, her artistic aspirations have quite often stood in the shadows of her professionalobligations. When she and her husband had their amazing identical twin boys she felt there simply wasn’t enough ‘room’ in her life for art.
While working from home and caring for her family during the pandemic, she could no longer suppress the need to express herself through art. Jenn found herself pouring her heart and soul into abstract expressionism, experimenting with different acrylic mediums, spray paint and drip/pour techniques. She couldn’t get the ideas and visions out quickly enough and in just under 5 months found herself with a collection of over 20 pieces, ready and eager to commercialize her passion. Her supportive husband, Lenny, even took on a newfound hobby of his own, making custom wood frames for her pieces to compliment her bold and commanding artwork.
Jenn’s artwork allows her to escape a sometimes regimented and stressful life to expose her multi-faceted self that has always been there and now refuses to hide. She shows her authentic self through her painting; sophistication with a hint of chaos and a pop of vibrancy.
My art is a visual journey. Color and emotions and energy are what my art is all about and i am honored when a client connects with my art. ~ Elaine Lanoue

I am an abstract artist based out of Houston. My primary mediums are acrylics and watercolor, and my work is characterized by the use of texture, mixed media, and collage elements. My paintings invite viewers to take a closer look in order to appreciate the tactile components and hidden details, neither of which are immediately evident when each piece is viewed as a whole. I find inspiration in the industrial neighborhood in which I reside, as well as in the cultures, history, and cityscapes I have experienced in my travels. This inspiration is manifested through the colors, textures, geometric themes, and found objects that comprise my body of work.
My work is about the spiritual connection found in natural beauty and the temporal quality of our existence as part of nature. It is done in mixed media, acrylic, collage, water media, and at times encaustic. Working in mixed media lends itself to creating a visceral world made with multiple layers, an approach that imbues the work with meaning through the telling of a story and the passing of time in the process. www.carolinez.com
