I’ve been twisting, weaving, hand forging wire for 6 years now and every day I learn something new. Each piece created tells a unique story and it aspires to bring out the uniqueness in every woman. I rarely sketch out designs and my work truly represents my raw, free flowing creativity. I take pride in creating each piece of jewelry by hand, and knowing that my customers are getting an excellent quality piece of art. www.bykjones.com
I use photography as a means of self-expression – to capture the inherent beauty of this world and how nature paints pictures that cannot be matched. The inexplicable beauty that the world expressed is something both divine and physical, and my goal is to capture these unexplored places of curiosity and tranquility to show people everywhere. Nature is symbolic of new chances, new beginnings, and new experiences, which I strive to share with the world around me. www.samhdpics.com

I am inspired by colors and concepts that I see in everyday life. There is simultaneous order and chaos to most processes and there is a delicate balance between them that I find fascinating. I try to capture these elements and the balance between them in a single frame using colors that I see as appealing and complementary. I see certain colors and patterns come together, depending on my mood and thought process on a given day, which I transfer to canvas. My favorite things to do are intricate designs with fine brush strokes that require focus and a steady hand, and experimenting with brush strokes, particularly to paint flowers. I find transferring images from my imagination on to canvas relaxing and rewarding.

“Miss Carolyn” is a longtime fan of First Saturday Arts Market. Now in her 90’s, “Miss Carolyn” as I fondly call her now, is one of the most prolific and dedicated artists I have ever met. From our conversations, sometimes by phone others in person, I’ve mentioned her and included her wisdom and fascinating history as a longtime Houston artist in my arts column, Art Valet, in The Leader Newspaper.
