One of the newest artists to join us in 2016, Katy Hayes, will be a contestant in the Ms. Wheelchair Texas Gala 2016. More about this remarkable woman below.
Katy Hayes is a Houston, TX based artist, model, and motivational speaker. After a rare infection made it necessary to amputate Katy’s arms and legs, the former massage therapist of 17 years rediscovered her love of art. Starting off as a form of personal therapy, people quickly started asking to purchase Katy’s art, and ordering custom paintings.
Since 2010, Katy has been featured on CNN, People Magazine, the Houston Chronicle, and Associated Press media outlets all over the world. Katy has sold over 500 paintings, in 13 countries, and is now offering group painting classes, and team building classes for businesses. Katy continues to face adversity head on, with a smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye. With her husband of 16 years, Al, and her 3 children, Katy has embarked on this new journey.
If you are interested in booking Katy for an appearance, buying a painting, or attending a class, please feel free to contact her at the website or phone number below.

The BEST art shows are hosted and curated by artists. With two powerhouse artists like Stäcy Smith and Claire Richards at the helm, I am confident in saying you should not miss this one. You will regret it. Many market artists, including Charlie Hardwick, the man behind those kitties, are featured.

A few years ago a local paper to the greater Heights area was purchased and completely remade into a true community news source; THE LEADER. With a focus on editorial and reporting local first, the publisher invited local residents to actively take part in rebranding the paper. Among them was myself, Mitch Cohen (I founded the art market and run it too). This is my 3rd year writing my weekly column titled, ART VALET. I almost exclusively interview artists, but sometimes write about other topics. My only criteria is that there is some connection to the Heights neighborhoods.
