I’ve been working with a visual vocabulary of shapes that tell a universal story. Painting, printmaking, and mixed media are my primary creative processes. I try not to have any predetermined outcomes but see where the work will take me.
Lana works in both clay and painting: Acrylic, Watercolor, and Plein Air Oils. Her pottery is both Raku fired and Stoneware with a variety of layered color to handpainted designs.
I believe energy is contagious and celebrate the human spirit by extending a colorful show through the end of my paintbrush with bright pops of color and images of activity. I want you to leave my visuals with a “WOW”, a willingness to pop a wheelie, or the need to beat your metaphorical drum.
At a young age, Sarah discovered her love for art. The process of creating was what sparked her interest. As her love for art continued to grow, she knew the right career choice was to become an artist & art educator. She has now taught art in Houston for 4 years. In 2016, after a life-changing experience, she knew she needed to rediscover her passion for creating. It wasn’t until she started to create again, that she was able to see her true potential as an artist. Her approach to art is intuitive & free flowing as she dives into each new work. She is inspired by color & the process of applying it to her canvas.
“And though the process can sometimes be ugly, it is the final moment that makes it all worth it,” Rimboch said. “Complete satisfaction knowing there is something sitting in front of me that only exists because I created it. And that, is ultimately what fuels my passion.”
I am inspired by colors and concepts that I see in everyday life. There is simultaneous order and chaos to most processes and there is a delicate balance between them that I find fascinating. I try to capture these elements and the balance between them in a single frame using colors that I see as appealing and complementary. I see certain colors and patterns come together, depending on my mood and thought process on a given day, which I transfer to canvas. My favorite things to do are intricate designs with fine brush strokes that require focus and a steady hand, and experimenting with brush strokes, particularly to paint flowers. I find transferring images from my imagination on to canvas relaxing and rewarding.
I make assemblage/found object jewelry. Each piece is one of a kind incorporating bits and pieces from nature as well as antiques and vintage finds. www.instagram.com/squirrelwithhammer
