I create self-portraits. While these self-portraits center on me and my individual experiences, many of the themes within them are part of a broader narrative. That is not to say I am trying to speak for others. Rather, self-portraiture allows me to process what is happening around me in a way that provides a springboard for myself and others to discuss the divergences and convergences in our experiences. In addition, I create landscape paintings as a way to both appreciate natural beauty and have a break from looking at my own face.
NShipula—Creative is owned by Natalie Shipula. I have a degree in fine art from Youngstown State University. My inspiration is drawn from where I grew up and in all of my travels. As a United States Air Force Veteran, it took me some time to finally get on this path of becoming an artist but I finally made it here.
Being a Graphic Designer full time was my lifelong goal, however, I find my passion lies in painting and photography. While I mainly paint watercolors and they are usually on paper, I have been experimenting with some new surfaces. Today, you will find that along with framed pieces, I also have watercolors on wood and metal.
Becoming an artist came with the knowledge that I create a lot of waste. While I am mindful of this, I try to use as much of my materials as possible. When the demand for framed art became apparent, I didn’t want my cost of supplies to raise the price of my art to levels that no one would be able to buy. For the framed pieces, I search for affordable vintage or recycled frames, I reuse mats if they are in good condition, and for my wooden or metal pieces, I search for items that could have another use. I do all my own framing, custom-cut all the mats, and fix/prep all other materials. I am as sustainable as I can be while creating pieces that range in size and price making it so everyone has the opportunity to purchase an original piece of art for their homes.
Large Vibrant Photography is the best way to describe my art. I am local to the Heights and have been an avid photographer for many years. My art is bright, colorful, saturated, and tac sharp as I control the entire process from taking the photo, developing, printing matting and framing. My pictures are often of local landmarks and I work to show them in new light and perspective through long exposures to encourage the viewer to continue getting closer and closer to discover more that they might see at first glance. I love travel, adventure, and artistic exploration and seek to share my journey with others.
I began drawing and painting in 2021 during the Covid Pandemic at the age of 52! Working from home and unable to get out I picked up a book, The Artist’s Way, that I had had for years but never read. That book changed my life. I realized that I had always been called to create and I was finally ready to embrace it!
I began drawing and painting and I can’t stop. I particulary love Faces and Flowers and using all kinds of art supplies to create texture and layers. Life is beautiful and messy and imperfect and I embrace all of it. I hope you feel that – along with a sense of play, in my work.
It’s never too late to follow your dream or to learn a new thing! I still have my day job (which I love) in the corporate world and I’m creating as much as I can in between meetings!
I hope my art brings you as much joy as creating it brings me.

The Hawicz Collection of decorative masks and egg artistry are created by Basia Haszlakiewicz. Masks are her preferred choice of artistic expression, as varied as the people we meet on a daily basis. “Pisanki” are decorated Easter eggs, in the tradition of the Slavic folk art. Basia has taken this craft to new dimension and infused them with stories and fantasies on a tiny scale.
The compositions are primarily a product of found objects, accumulated over many decades including a variety of embellishments, toys, nail art, seashells, stones, jewels, hardware, and just an unusual combination of everyday “stuff”. Each work starts with a palette of materials that evolves, unfolds. The artist’s studio is a cornucopia of tools, adhesives, and findings.
Precia Harthco has a Bachelor of Arts degree in interior design, specializing in hospitality design.
“Crafting has always been a part of my life,” she says. “In the 70s I dabbled in macrame and decoupage. The 80s and 90s saw stained glass and copper foiling. At the turn of the century everything was fair game: Jewelry, etched glass, beading, ballroom dance dresses, but by then I was really focusing on my interior designs. In 2020 during the COVID epidemic I finally found wet-felting and realized it combined all my creative cravings: the color pallet is infinite, I learn new techniques almost every day, the experience is refreshing, the tactile involvement is cathartic, and each piece I complete makes me want to do more.”
Finally settling in Houston, Texas, she has a small home studio where she spends her days blending colors and textures to create the perfect piece.

I paint big, colorful flowers. I am fascinated by the repetitive shapes, the colors, and the energy of plants and flowers. They are each so unique and different, almost as if they have little personalities. I love the big bold varieties of sunflowers and zinnias, as well as exotic tropicals like hibiscus and bird of paradise. I could paint them for hours and never get tired of it. I keep my garden chock-full of all these types so I get to live with them and study them. They are constantly making me smile and informing my work.
My art is uplifting and positive. There’s enough heavy negativity these days, so I’m doing my part to put positive energy back into the world. Color saves lives. It inspires us to think better, work smarter, and play more. My art is about beauty, color, and joy, and ultimately, it’s about hope.
