The Hanging Pendant believes in the uniqueness of each person. The word Unique is defined as -the one and only, having no like, unusual, rare, extraordinary, different, uncommon, distinctive, special. The word Individual is defined as -single, separate thing or being, particular, distinguished from others by special characteristics. The word You is defined as -Yourself, all of you, you alone. Our pieces are designed for an uncommon, distinctive, particular, separate being that is rare and extraordinary and special, a single being… You! 936-788-3008
I am a visual and installation artist living and working in the Houston Heights. My art focuses on human interaction and individual identity. I draw my inspiration from my experiences and observations of community. I am interested in representing our interactions with others, specifically strangers. I explore the moments in a relationship where our impressions about others and our place in the community are forming. I think about identity and empathy. Who are we and how do we portray that to others? How are we seen? I work often from found photographs and materials, drawing inspiration from the images of people who are strangers to me. I layer in collage elements and mixed media figures or abstract mark making. Most of the pieces require you to get close. There are moments of intimacy and recognition within the larger composition. Meditating on my work reflects the process of getting to know someone for the first time.

I work primarily in acrylics on canvas with multi layers of joyful, vibrant colors and patterns. I create portraits, figurative work and animals with a touch of whimsy, to bring healing, hope and encouragement. I believe words are powerful and incorporate them either visibly on the surface or under the layers. I typically can’t stop a painting until a clear message is presented and many of my paintings are accompanied with a written word or poem.
I create abstract paintings and mixed media work. My abstract style is emergent: I let the painting take me where it wants to go. Much of my mixed media work are collages using acrylic mediums and interesting papers. The collages range from a mosaic-like style with faces and/or symbols to abstract to landscapes. A current emphasis in my mosaic work is stylized faces to celebrate racial diversity.
My paintings are all dimensional. I use cut bowling pins, tennis racquets, PVC pipe, and any other materials found in construction, nature, or your junk drawer to build out from the canvas.
I create abstract acrylic paintings on board, canvas and other materials using recycled and repurposed materials from my garage, house, and junk drawer. I have a passion for recovering and reusing materials from my home construction projects (my wife has an extensive honey-do list for me, especially since I am recently retired). My work is colorful, dimensional, eye-catching, and dynamic. facebook.com/Art-by-Butterartbybutter.com
From the very first time I melted glass, I fell in love with the exquisite colors and exciting chemistry that make it so fun to work with glass. I create unique lampwork glass beads – no two of them are ever exactly the same – and incorporate those beads into my own jewelry designs. My style is rustic and organic and a little bit Boho. I paint colorful still life and florals, working primarily in oils. My design background comes through in my love of graphic patterns, dynamic compositions, and bold colors. Painting, for me, is all about having fun! I am endlessly fascinated by the way light brings life and form to objects, and how shadows bring life to a composition. www.kerryhastingshogan.com@khastingshoganartfacebook.com/khastingshoganart/
Scottish by birth, hence the company name, moved to Texas in 1997 and discovered “glass” as a medium to express my artistry
Now I create imagery on fused glass by using an etching technique along with glass powders and frit. Facebook.com/LorainesCelticCreations
