My medium is a varied mix of tiny shells, scraps of paper, slivers of glass, thick gel mediums, crusted gouache additives, creamy acrylic and globs of oil paints, traces of watercolor and melted wax crayons combined with hardened enamels and carefully chosen 14kt gold flake.
Every piece is original and every creation is an unpredictable surprise! I create with a clear heart, no expectations. The materials combined together create a resist-like reaction and the results are different every time…..each piece is genuinely unique and original!
I’m passionate about living the artful life. I have a great appreciation for nature and animals,20% of all sales goes to S.N.A.P. (Spay and Neuter Assistance Program) for animals. I am also an active advocate for the “Adopt Don’t Shop!” movement which means finding forever homes for our homeless furry friends.

I am a visual and installation artist living and working in the Houston Heights. My art focuses on human interaction and individual identity. I draw my inspiration from my experiences and observations of community. I am interested in representing our interactions with others, specifically strangers. I explore the moments in a relationship where our impressions about others and our place in the community are forming. I think about identity and empathy. Who are we and how do we portray that to others? How are we seen? I work often from found photographs and materials, drawing inspiration from the images of people who are strangers to me. I layer in collage elements and mixed media figures or abstract mark making. Most of the pieces require you to get close. There are moments of intimacy and recognition within the larger composition. Meditating on my work reflects the process of getting to know someone for the first time.
Beauty for Ashes art & décor by Kimberly McCormick
I work primarily in acrylics on canvas with multi layers of joyful, vibrant colors and patterns. I create portraits, figurative work and animals with a touch of whimsy, to bring healing, hope and encouragement. I believe words are powerful and incorporate them either visibly on the surface or under the layers. I typically can’t stop a painting until a clear message is presented and many of my paintings are accompanied with a written word or poem.
I create abstract paintings and mixed media work. My abstract style is emergent: I let the painting take me where it wants to go. Much of my mixed media work are collages using acrylic mediums and interesting papers. The collages range from a mosaic-like style with faces and/or symbols to abstract to landscapes. A current emphasis in my mosaic work is stylized faces to celebrate racial diversity.
I have a passion for upcycling old materials to create colorful and fun dimensional art. I use musical instruments, antique clocks, tennis rackets, and other materials to create abstract faces and characters.
Everything I make is an original piece. My letters and words are assembled using junk drawer and garage sale finds. My vinyl paintings use vintage records that evoke nostalgic feelings. My abstract landscapes are from travel photos, mostly from national parks. Follow my artwork on Instagram.
From the very first time I melted glass, I fell in love with the exquisite colors and exciting chemistry that make it so fun to work with glass. I create unique lampwork glass beads – no two of them are ever exactly the same – and incorporate those beads into my own jewelry designs. My style is rustic and organic and a little bit Boho. The objects and natural elements that surround us each day connect us to our lives and the people we share them with. My work is an ongoing exploration of my fascination with our ever-changing skies, the native plants and landscape below them, and still life that shows how we experience these natural elements on a more intimate level by incorporating them into our private spaces. I paint in oil using a mixture of application materials including synthetic and hog hair brushes, dry rags, and a range of palette knives.
