As a watercolor artist, my paintings give expression to my obsession for nature in all its forms, colors, and designs. With watercolor as my media and my passion, I concentrate significantly on nature, wildlife, birds, landscapes, seascapes, and sporting art, but I also pursue a variety of other subjects as well.. Always an admirer of birds, I paint many species, mainly from the Texas gulf coast. Capturing their color, their action, their moods, and their subtle mannerisms provides me with both delight and challenge.
Working with watercolor paints allows me to do many things with this medium. I find that I can experiment more with watercolor than all other media combined. With watercolors, I like to paint, drool, scratch, dab, mop, salt, and incorporate a wide variety of other techniques. Primarily, I paint in high detail capturing a scene that presents nature in its many patterns, shapes and spirit.
Joella Guaraglia-Wheeler
I was born in San Francisco and eventually found my way to Houston about 4 years ago via Oregon and Santa Fe, NM. My mixed media and ‘relief’ paintings display a variety of insights across varying themes. I use layers of texture and I build my colors for vibrancy. Despite the theme of any of my work you will see something new each time you experience one.

I paint a watercolor every day, and post these on my blog, Have Watercolors Will Travel. It’s become a ritual, a meditation of sorts. Finding inspiration and painting daily forces me to really look at the world.

An interest in artistic design has been my passion since my childhood although I have a B.S degree in Physics. My handmade jewelry is unique and original one or more technique such as, tatting, crocheting, knitting, beading, wire-wrapping etc. is used in my design. Tatting is one of the oldest lace making technique that, is a form of lace-making consisting of knotting threads into rings and chains, forming beautiful patterns of open and closed space. It is created a delicate yet sturdy lace.

Blue Kangaroo Jewelry
I create sterling silver custom jewelry made from unconventional materials gathered from her travels all over the world. My jewelry is influenced by past professions and recent passions, including my animals and the concept of reinterpreting found objects. No two bracelets or pendants are alike. Each design is a kaleidoscope of memories redefined as fanciful arm and neck candy. I work with materials such as sterling silver, clay, resin and silk. bluekangaroojewelry.net

My work incorporates a variety of metals (mostly sterling silver), gemstones, enamel, plastics, paper, wood, and vintage jewelry findings. My most recent work incorporates hand fabricated bezels, acrylic domes, and my own watercolor artwork illuminated behind the acrylic domes.
I enjoy working in alternative materials, most specifically plastics and love to incorporate color and texture in my pieces.
All of my work in hand fabricated and made by me in my studio at Silver Street Studios.

Gathering inspiration from explorations of daily life, the environment, history and travel – this is the basis for all that I create. My personal influences are diverse, ranging from early childhood exposure to Faroese folk art and Peranakan textiles & ceramics to modern artists such as Jun Kaneko and Dale Chihuly . Mediums of choice vary based on concept and practical use – ceramics, paint, textiles, upcycling, salvaged materials, collage & assemblage . Pure, simple and beautiful is my endeavor – Hansdottir is the resulting amalgamation.
