Cherie Salinas is a self-taught artist with a deep-rooted passion for creativity, evident from a young age. Her work spans a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, and innovative techniques like melting crayons on canvas. Salinas explores the human form, animals, and vibrant subjects like luscious fruit, creating pieces that evoke a spectrum of emotions from serene peacefulness to delicate darkness. Her paintings often combine bold, bright colors with darker tones, blending soft strokes and textured elements within a single composition. Influenced by Monet’s mastery of color mixing and Van Gogh’s textured techniques, Salinas crafts landscapes and portrayals of mysterious women that invite varied interpretations—one viewer might see a sunrise, while another perceives a sunset. Her dynamic approach to subject matter and style reflects her belief in the subjective nature of art, where each piece resonates uniquely with its audience.
Dean Snider, a Houston-based outsider artist, creates vibrant abstract mixed media works layered with colors, textures, and found objects like broken toys and medical imagery. Active at First Saturday Arts Market since 2005, Snider’s prolific output, over 1,000 original paintings sold, reflects his divine calling to art, sparked at 18 by a gift of paints. His pieces, blending acrylics, house paint, and collage on wood, canvas, and metal, hang alongside icons like Keith Haring and Basquiat in collectors’ homes. He also works, building and designing theater sets. Find him at the market or on Instagram 346-377-8664

Ellington paints in acrylic, with much water and sometimes sand. Her painting is in an impressionistic style with techniques that feel more like carving. “It has been said that painting is half-way between sculpting and drawing,” she says. “It is a wonderful experience.”
My art reflects my interest in science and nature. Also, light and darkness. I’m a digital artist, creating abstracts and realism- expressionist works. Many abstracts start life as fractals, which is my way to balance my logical side with my creative nature. At times, I feel very split between art and tech geek.
“My goal is to bring the beauty of plants, trees and other natural places to my artwork so that I can share that with others. My hope is that my art might help another person connect with the natural world so that he or she can appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every day. I use a variety of techniques and media to bring my work to life!” ~Angie Spears
