Vincent Fink is a contemporary surrealist working out of his Winter Street Studio in the Arts District where he tirelessly adds to a multitude of expansive, award-winning projects. He instills messages of esoteric knowledge and cultural story-telling into each piece he creates.

Vincent Fink’s work is surrealism in it’s purest form. His dark images with warped perspectives invite the viewer into a world that came from a lucid dream in which he observed the completed work. Pushing himself to recreate something that was beyond his imagination and skill in his waking life, Vincent has used this inspiration to develop the Metamorphosis Project, a concept that continues to spawn the hidden messages of his dreams.

My paintings are based on direct observation. I take my French easel out into the city I call home, Houston TX. The subject matter, although always changing, is often the confluence of what I love about Houston; it’s buildings, bayous, highways, tree-lined streets and lush parks and gardens. Even though I’m from Houston I received my BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. I was influenced by a professor that said art started and ended with Cezanne. My style is based on the plein air approach of painting from direct observation much like Cezanne approached his subject matter. I go out every week and paint the city I live in, It is my honest response to what I call the Beautiful Ugly that is Houston a place built in a swampy mosquito-infested marshland designed based more on greed happen chance than esthetics. Highway byways bayous and buildings.

I would describe my work as representational. I paint the people, creatures and landscape around me and that remind me of my rich Texas history. I enjoy painting in acrylic, oil, watercolor, and mixed media…it depends on my mood! I have more ideas than there are hours in a day so my work is always evolving, changing but will always tell my story. I enjoy discussing particular pieces and sharing the story behind each piece! I am a Native Texan, 5th generation Houstonian with a rich family history in the Houston, Heights and Galveston areas. My most recent work is inspired by my life! I paint the animals, gardens and people that I see everyday. I paint out of my studio in Kingwood, Texas. Dirk Strangely

Dirk Strangely is a naturally-gifted Renaissance man; his eccentric personality and beautiful work has the ability to draw you into his mystical and whimsical world. Creator of The Wonderland Journals, Strangely is known for his graphic novel Dirk Strangely’s Graveyard Girl and his children’s book Myrtle’s Broken Turtle, as well as for his contribution to Jim Henson’s Legends of the Dark Crystal. Strangely also has pieces in the galleries at Downtown Disney and has been published in mainstream magazines and newspapers across the United States. More than just a visual artist, he is involved in several projects through film, digital art, sculptures, and writing, in addition to being a classically trained jazz and blues musician.

Evolved Metal by Jonatan Lopez

Jonatan Lopez is an interdisciplinary artist living in Houston Texas. His performance and installation works address personal struggles and issues of debate, often becoming self-healing rituals and social experiments seeking to open valuable community dialogue. His sculpture and commercial works employ recycled metals and found objects, ranging from life size figurative sculpture to metal crafts. Jonatan has shown at numerous venues in Houston, from alternative art spaces such as Project Row Houses and DiverseWorks ArtSpace to traditional venues like Bayou City Art’s Festival. Jonatan currently co-facilitates Houston’s Performance Art project Continuum.
